Ryan Kujawski

Partner

Ryan Kujawski is a partner with Berkes Crane Santana & Spangler LLP. Mr. Kujawski is an experienced litigator whose primary practice is the trial of civil cases with particular emphasis on asbestos and toxic exposure cases. He has sat first chair and co-chaired numerous jury trials and has handled cases from inception to verdict in such areas as product and premises liability, railroad, and personal injury disputes. He has appeared as trial counsel in courts throughout the State of California and has successfully argued in front of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in a matter involving standing in a 42 U.S.C. § 1983 action. (Dolores Piper v. Joshua Cabillo, Ninth Circuit Case No 14-16830.)

Mr. Kujawski handles all aspects of preparing cases for trial including, but not limited to, plaintiff and percipient witness depositions, preparing experts for deposition and trial, preparation and argument of motions for summary judgment and other complex pre-trial motions. Mr. Kujawski has drafted and argued dispositive motions related to novel legal issues regarding statute of limitations, corporate dissolution, and legal standing

Mr. Kujawski is an experienced examiner and deposes, presents and cross-examines medical and non-medical experts on a regular basis. Medical expert specialties include: pathology, pulmonology, cardiology, oncology, and radiology. Non-medical expert areas include: industrial hygiene, construction, epidemiology, and forensic economics. Mr. Kujawski has prepared, presented, and cross-examined experts for various issues, including mesothelioma, lung cancer, colo-rectal cancer, kidney cancer, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, restrictive airways disease syndrome, silicosis, life expectancy, medical causation, accident causation, toxic exposure levels, and forensic economics.

Mr. Kujawski earned his B.A. from the State University of New York College at Geneseo and received his J.D. from the University of Oregon, School of Law. While completing his law degree, Mr. Kujawski was an Editor on the Oregon Review of International Law and acted as sole trial chair for the Lane County District Attorney on several criminal trials.

Mr. Kujawski’s bar admissions include California, Virginia, and Washington D.C.

As a former collegiate lacrosse player, Mr. Kujawski now enjoys coaching his own children in lacrosse, soccer, and basketball.
